York's Tyler Hutson Earns Academic All-America Recognition for Second Straight Year
Complete Academic All-America At-Large Team
York men's lacrosse standout Tyler Hutson was named to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large second team selection as announced by CoSIDA on Tuesday afternoon. The honor marks the second time that Hutson has been named an Academic All-America honoree, as he was a third team selection after his junior campaign.
Hutson graduated from York three weeks ago with his degree in Marketing as he concluded his academic career as a seven-time Dean's List honoree. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.77 GPA.
Hutson closes out his Spartan career as the most decorated player in the 16-year history of the men's lacrosse program. He was a four time All-Capital Athletic Conference selection, a three-time USILA All-American, a two-time Capital One Academic All-America, the 2012 CAC Rookie-of-the-Year, the 2013 CAC Player-of-the-Year, and the 2015 CAC Male Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year. He also took home the 2014-15 Daniel J. Klinedinst Award signifying York College's most outstanding senior male athlete.
He concluded his senior year with 76 points on 45 goals and 31 assists in his 19 games. He registered seven man-up goals and five game-winning goals for the Spartans. He picked up 35 ground balls and forced eight caused turnovers.
Hutson owns the career scoring record with 286 points on 206 goals and 80 assists, both school records. He also owns the school record for game-winning goals (15) and man-up goals (28). He is just one of 13 players in NCAA Division III men's lacrosse history to reach 200 goals for his career.
The Spartan program exploded with the arrival of Hutson in the fall of 2011. The Spartans won a school-record 48 games during Hutson's time in the Green and White with 20 of those wins coming in conference play. He led the Spartans to their first-ever CAC championship game last year while York also qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans picked up their first-ever NCAA Tournament win with an 8-3 victory over Susquehanna in the tournament's opening round.
