For the third time in the last five years, Salisbury and Tufts will square off for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship, set for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md.
Salisbury is making its 13 national championship game appearance and seeking its 10th NCAA title. The Sea Gulls have won two of the last three national titles, with victories in 2011 and 2012. In the 2010 national title game, Tufts topped Salisbury 9-6. The following year, the Sea Gulls bounced back with a 19-7 triumph over the Jumbos.
The second-ranked Sea Gulls (21-1) advanced to the championship round with a 13-8 victory over No. 5 Washington (Md.) College in last Sunday's semifinals. After receiving an opening-round bye, Salisbury defeated CAC foe York, 12-6, and Denison, 15-5, before its matchup with Washington Col.
No. 6 Tufts (20-2) handed previously-unbeaten Rochester Institute its first loss of the season in convincing fashion, 21-11, to earn a finals berth. Prior to its win over RIT, Tufts downed Emmanuel (Mass.), 24-2, edged Endicott, 10-9, and Cortland State, 15-5.
