Frostburg State Men's Lacrosse Edged by Albright in ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship
Frostburg State suffered a tough 14-13 loss to Albright in the ECAC Men's Lacrosse Mid-Atlantic Championship game, Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.
The Lions (13-6) trailed by four goals midway through the
second quarter but rallied to tie the game at 10-10 early in the
third. Frostburg (14-6) later tied the game at 11 apiece and
juniors Greg Bourne and Spencer
Barnett scored back-to-back goals to open the fourth as
the hosts assumed a 13-12 lead.
Albright had the final say as Phil Potter (6:51) and Andrew
Potter (2:49) scored the game's final two goals to complete the
comeback. Phil Potter finished with six goals for the Lions and was
named the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship Most Outstanding
Player.
Junior Devin Colegrove led the Bobcats in
scoring with one goal and four assists. He handed out two assists
during a 4-0 FSU run in the second quarter as it built an 8-5 lead
with 8:33 to play. Colegrove found the net at 7:20 and junior
Chris Rios scored at 6:45 as the Bobcats built
their lead to 10-6 midway through the second.
Bourne finished with two goals and two assists, while senior
Ryan Serio scored two goals and added an assist. Senior
Billy Lark won 12-of-21 faceoffs and scooped up
nine ground balls and senior Tyler Haines stopped
13 shots in net.
The Lions, who captured their second-straight ECAC
Mid-Atlantic Championship, outshot Frostburg 44-29 and held a 45-37
edge in ground balls. Derek Stump finished with two goals and two
assists, while Darian Meador picked up nine ground
balls.
