Marymount's Mark Curtis Selected to Play in 2014 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship

Marymount University golfer Mark Curtis has been chosen to play in the upcoming 2014 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship.  He is only one of three NCAA Division III players to be selected to participate in the tournament

"It's an honor to be selected to a tournament that is nationally known," saints Curtis, a Miami, Fla., native. "I'm excited to compete against college golfers that play at all different levels and it will be fun to get back to playing on a course similar to those I grew up on."

2014 marks the 28th playing of this event and the 17th time it has been held at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie. Registration this year has a total of 200 players from 40 of the Nation's prestigious colleges and universities.  The three-round tournament will take place from May 9-11 with the men's individual invitational being played on the Wanamaker Course.

"I am very proud of Mark and how he is able to be at the top of his class and still maintain a strong golf game," Marymount's head golf coach Stephen Moskal said.  "It demonstrates a great ability to manage his time and his focus, a quality that will take him to the top of all his endeavors."

Curtis is currently second on the Saints with an 84.4 stroke average.  He was named Second Team All-Capital Athletic Conference as a freshman and looks to add an additional all-conference accolade to his résumé at the 2014 CAC Championships.
