York Leads 2009 CAC Golf Championship After 18 Holes; Dupler And Oswik Tied For First At Midpoint Of Tournament

York (Pa.) have four players in the top-10, including three under 80, as the Spartans are in first place and hold a seven-stroke lead over Marymount and defending champion Wesley following the opening round of the 2009 CAC Golf Championship at Piney Branch Golf Club.

Wesley and Marymount are tied for second at 318 followed by host Stevenson who fired a 333.

York's Andy Dupler and Wesley's Jeff Owsik are currently tied for the tournament lead at four-over par after both shot a 75 and hold a two-stroke lead over York's Jimmy DeCastro and Stevenson's Matt Lukehart.

Dupler was at one-over following a birdie on the 14th, but had a bogey on 15 and a double on 16 to fall back to plus-4. Meanwhile, Oswick had 14 pars, no birdies and four bogeys.

The course yielded just 20 birdies during Saturday's first round, three of which were turned in by Marymount's Ryan Fitzmeyer who is currently in fifth place after shooting a 78.

DeCastro and Wesley's Chris Osberg each had eagles with DeCastro's coming on the par-5, 478-yard 14th hole and Osberg's on the par-5, 510-yard sixth.

Andrew Schmehl rounded out York's top three who broke 80 as he finished with a 79 despite bogeying three of the final four holes and posting a double on 12.

Fitzmeyer and Max Brouse led Marymount with a 78 and 79, respectively, while Cliff Mangle also had a 79 for Stevenson.

Evan Chaney was the top finisher for Hood, who sent just three golfers, with an 80.

The second round gets underway Sunday at noon.
