York and Marymount Defend Home Courts in CAC Men's Basketball First Round
York and Marymount each defended their home courts with wins in the first round of the CAC Men's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday to advance to Thursday's semifinals.
Third-seeded York took down sixth-seeded Wesley 102-91, while fourth-seeded Marymount outlasted fifth-seeded St. Mary's 69-64.
With the victories, York and Marymount advance to Thursday's semifinals. York (17-9) will travel second-seeded Salisbury (19-6) for a 7 p.m. tip, with the other semifinal featuring Marymount (13-13) at top-seeded Christopher Newport (23-2) at 8 p.m.

In York, Pa., York made the most of its first playoff appearance since the 2012-13 season, shooting a blistering 59.7% (37-of-62) from the floor on its way to its highest scoring output of the season. Blayde Reich with a team-high 28 points on 12-of-15 shooting along with five rebounds, five assists, and five blocks. Five other Spartans reached double figures, including Matt Scamuffo with 16 points, four assists, and three three-pointers. Paul Clemons led the way for Wesley with a game-high 29 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
York will compete in the CAC semifinals for the first time since 2011-12 on Thursday.
In Arlington, Va., Marymount held off a second-half surge from visiting St. Mary's, sending the Saints to the semifinals for the first time in 2009-10. Tied at 64-64 with under two minutes remaining, Michael Anderson drilled a three-pointer at the 1:24 mark and the Saints hit two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win.
Reigning CAC Player of the Week Dimitri Rucker led the Saints with game-highs of 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Brandon Rogers (17 pts) and Anderson (13 pts) also reached double figures for Marymount. Cris Craft, Jr. and Delazso Smith scored 14 apiece for the Seahawks in a losing effort.
