St. Mary's Men's Basketball To Host Morrisville State In NCAA Div. III Sweet 16 Game Saturday

The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team is happy to be back home at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena this Saturday night for the sectionals of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. The Seahawks will take on Morrisville State College at 7:30 pm.

St. Mary's (26-3) is enjoying its fifth overall – and fourth straight – NCAA tournament appearance. The Seahawks advanced to this weekend's sectionals with a 72-66 win over the host Alvernia University Crusaders this past Saturday in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Junior guard Kyle Wise (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) tallied a first-half best of 13 points en route to a career-high 18 points off the bench on 7-of-11 shooting while sophomore Nick LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) picked up 14 of his 16 points in the second half as the Seahawks outscored Alvernia, 41-35, in the final 20 minutes. Five players scored in double figures in the win at Alvernia, improving St. Mary's record in NCAA tournament action to 10-4. The Seahawks advanced to the Elite Eight in 2011.

Morrisville State (23-5) is making its second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Mustangs, who now own a 2-1 record in NCAA action, dropped a 75-49 decision to Middlebury University last year in the first round in their first-ever NCAA trip. Morrisville State has won two road games, including Saturday night's 66-61 overtime win over No. 13 Rhode Island College, to match up with St. Mary's in the Sweet 16.

TICKETS: Ticket sales for Saturday night's Sweet 16 game will begin tomorrow afternoon (March 12) at 1:00 p.m. at the concession stand (when facing the Welcome Desk, the stand is to the left) in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center on the St. Mary's College of Maryland campus.

Prices for Saturday's contest are $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, students (with ID) and children. Children younger than 2 years of age are free.

The NCAA has allotted St. Mary's 800 tickets for Saturday night (500 adults and 300 senior citizens, students, and children).  If the senior citizens/students/children tickets sell out, you will have to purchase an adult ticket for $8.
