Mary Washington's Justin Baker Named 2007-08 CAC Men's Scholar-Athlete Of The Year
University of Mary Washington men's basketball standout Justin Baker (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was selected as the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the conference athletic directors and sports information directors.
Baker, a graduate student at UMW, was the Co-Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2007 with York College's Chris Brower. A business major who is completing his MBA degree, boasts a 3.67 cumulative grade point average.
He is the first two-time Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in UMW history and earned Magna Cum Laude distinction in earning his bachelor's degree.
On the court, Baker was a four-year starter and a two-time nominee for the Josten's Trophy and finished fifth in UMW history in career points, assists and rebounds.
He is a three-time CAC all-star, led the Eagles to second place in the regular-season and a berth in the CAC championship game this season, just the third trip to the title game in team history.
