Christopher Newport and Salisbury Headed to NCAA Field Hockey Final Four

Christopher Newport and Salisbury will represent the CAC in the NCAA Field Hockey Final Four after quarterfinal victories on Sunday afternoon. 

The Captains (21-1), ranked fourth in the country, topped 17th-ranked Catholic 1-0 to advance to the Final Four for the first time in program history. Shelby Judkins scored the game's only goal for the second straight contest to propel the Captains to the semifinal round. Goalkeeper Bailey Lien totaled four saves on her way to her 11th shutout of the season. 

The Sea Gulls (16-3) took down Wellesley 4-1 to move on to the semifinals for the first time since 2009. Samantha Johnson powered Salisbury to the victory, tallying a hat trick and an assist in the three-goal triumph. 

Both the Captains and the Sea Gulls will travel to Virginia Beach, Va. for the Final Four to be held at the USA F.H. Training Center, with the semifinal round set for Friday. 

CNU will take on fifth-ranked Bowdoin, a 1-0 winner over Montclair State, at 11 a.m. Salisbury will meet seventh-ranked Skidmore, a 3-2 winner over Middlebury, at 2 p.m on Friday.

The championship game is slated for Sunday, Nov. 24 at 10:30 a.m.
