Christopher Newport And Salisbury Both Gain 1-0 Victories To Advance To NCAA Field Hockey Elite 8
Christopher Newport's Shelby Judkins and Salisbury's Summer Washburn each scored the only goals of their respective contests as the Captains and Sea Gulls both posted 1-0 wins in Saturday's NCAA Field Hockey Tournament matches.
CNU downed Centre, 1-0, as Judkins scored the only goal on a first-half stroke. The Captains (20-1), CAC regular-season champions, will host Catholic Sunday for a ticket to the 2013 NCAA Final Four.
Salisbury advanded past Tufts when Washburn redirected a crossing pass into the cage with just 29 seconds left in regulation. The regional-tournament host Sea Gulls (15-3) will face Wellesley Sunday in a third-round showdown.
