Salisbury's Kandice Hancock Named To ECAC Field Hockey All-Star Team

The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2008 Division III Field Hockey All-Stars on Monday and Salisbury University had one player garner the award. Sophomore forward Kandice Hancock was one of 22 recipients to distinguish this honor as she was named to the second team. She was the only player from the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) to receive the distinction.

The award adds to an impressive list of honors that have already been collected by Hancock this season. Last week, she earned her second All-American award of the postseason with a first team spot on the Womensfieldhockey.com All-American team.

She was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American second team two weeks ago. The sophomore led the No. 7 Sea Gulls to a 15-4 record and was named the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year.

The All-South region first team member tallied 10 goals and added five assists for the Sea Gulls this season. Hancock ranks sixth in the conference in both shots (57) and shots per game (3.0). The midfielder is tied for third in the CAC with four game-winning goals.

The Westover, Md., native was named CAC Player of the Week on September 15 after she tallied four goals and scored the game-winner against No. 13 Christopher Newport University.

With 40 career games under her belt, the two-time All-CAC first team midfielder will enter her junior season with 15 goals, 16 assists and 46 points.
