UMW’s Martin, Boyd Sweep C2C Weekly Baseball Awards
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2026 baseball season. Mary Washington's Oliver Martin took home C2C Player of the Week honors, while the Eagles Matthew Boyd captured C2C Pitcher of the Week distinction.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Oliver Martin, Mary Washington
Mary Washington junior Oliver Martin went 5-for-12 (.417) at the plate in three victories this past week, drawing one walk and stealing four bases in the process. In a victory over No. 10 Bridgewater, Martin drove in the first run of the ballgame on a ground ball before singling later. And against Juniata this weekend, Martin went 4-for-9 with an RBI, a walk, while stealing three bases. He nabbed two-of-three would-be base stealers as well from behind the plate.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Matthew Boyd, Mary Washington
Mary Washington senior Matthew Boyd tossed eight innings of shutout baseball, blanking No. 10 Bridgewater to clinch the Eagles' third upset over a top-10 foe this season in his lone start of the week. Boyd struck out four, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning (the second time he's done that this season), and pitched into the ninth inning. He yielded just three hits and a walk in what was arguably the most dominant start of his career.
