Salisbury Secures Third Straight CAC Baseball Championship

Top-seeded Salisbury topped third-seeded Penn State Harrisburg 10-4 in game two of the CAC Baseball Championship series on Saturday in Salisbury, Md., giving the Sea Gulls their third-straight CAC crown with a 2-0 record vs. the Lions in the best-of-three series. 

The title is the Sea Gulls' 15th overall and sixth in the last seven seasons. With the win, Salisbury earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. NCAA regional tournaments selections will be announced on Sunday, May 13. 

Salisbury jumped on top of the Lions early, scoring five total runs in the opening three frames of the contest, including three in the second inning. Penn State Harrisburg pulled within a 7-4 deficit in the bottom of the eighth, but the Sea Gulls tacked on three insurance runs in the top of the ninth en route to the win. 

Justin Meekins (2-for-6) and Jack Barry (3-for-5) registered two RBIs apiece for SU, while Colby Dean went 2-for-3 and scored twice and Jay Perry went 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Austin Heenan earned the win on the mound, improving to 10-3 on the year after striking out five and allowing just two hits in 6.1 innings of work. 

Bret Williams led the way for the Lions in the defeat, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
