Top-seeded Salisbury and third-seeded Penn State Harrisburg posted 2-0 records in their respective pods on the opening day of the CAC Baseball Tournament on Friday, putting them in the driver's seat heading into Saturday's action of the double-elimination opening weekend of the postseason. 

In Salisbury, Md., the day began with sixth-seeded York cruising to a 17-5 triumph over fourth-seeded Frostburg State. Salisbury then knocked out Frostburg State with a 7-0 triumph in the middle game of the day, before the Sea Gulls collected another shutout with a 7-0 triumph over the Spartans. 

Salisbury and York will meet again on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Salisbury needing one win to advance to the CAC Championship series next weekend. The Spartans must win twice to advance to the championship. 

In Newport News, Va., Penn State Harrisburg secured a pair of high-scoring one-run victories to put itself one win away from a CAC Championship appearance. The Lions opened the day with a 12-11 victory against fifth-seeded Southern Virginia. In the middle game of the pod, host and second-seeded Christopher Newport eliminated Southern Virginia by a 17-5 count. Penn State Harrisburg then held off a late CNU charge in Friday's final game, 10-9. 

The Captains and Lions will meet again on Saturday at 11 a.m., with CNU needing two victories to advance to the best-of-three championship series.
