Marymount Athletics to Add Women’s Golf in 2014-15

Marymount Athletics to Add Women’s Golf in 2014-15

Marymount University will increase its intercollegiate sports offerings to 17 with the addition of women’s golf beginning in the 2014-15 season.

“We’re excited to continue to expand Marymount Athletics with the addition of women’s golf next season,” Director of Athletics Debbie Warren said. “The amount of interest from current and prospective Marymount students about starting a program was too much to ignore.”

Leading the new women’s golf program as its first head coach will be Rob Ferguson.  Ferguson has been a PGA Member since 1991 and also currently serves as the teaching professional at Washington Golf & Country Club.

Women’s golf will be the fifth sport added at Marymount in the past year with baseball, men’s volleyball and men’s and women’s triathlon competing in their inaugural seasons in 2014. Marymount last expanded its athletic offerings in 2003, with the addition of men’s and women’s cross country.
