Wesley College Executive Director of Athletics Mike Drass Gains Hall Of Fame Nod
Wesley College Executive Director of Athletics and head football coach Michael Drass received Mansfield University's highest athletic honor by being inducted in the Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 8, 2010.
Drass was one of four inductees who was honored with dinner and
an induction ceremony during Mansfield's Homecoming weekend. Drass
graduated from Mansfield University in 1988 after starting on the
Mountaineer football team for three years. During his tenure as an
athlete, he was a two-time All-PSAC athlete as an offensive lineman
and captain. He later went on to coach at Mansfield before joining
the Wesley College football program in 1989.
Humble and focused are two words that describe Coach Drass. Few
athletes at Wesley know that their coach received the high honor
from his alma mater because he is so focused on their academic and
athletic careers, as well as the current football season.
"He is a fantastic, winning coach and has taken Wesley a long way," said Senior Receiver Ellis Krout. "More importantly, he has been there for every player and personally has put me on a path to succeed for my family."
"I know that he had a great career at Mansfield, and if you look
at his full body of athletic achievements in both coaching and
playing he is very well deserving of this award," said Associate
Athletic Director of Promotions Steve Azzanesi.
